Adoption Stories

Learn about our free, all-options counseling.

If you have given birth and are unsure of whether you want or are able to parent your baby, you have options. Our counselors can talk with you about parenting and adoption plans.

We discuss — and are supportive of — all options equally. We serve birth parents in Oregon and SW Washington.

You’ll work with a counselor who is compassionate, experienced, and highly trained.

If you choose a parenting plan, we can suggest resources in your community to help you.

If you choose adoption, we will respect your needs and your privacy. We’ll help you make an adoption plan and connect you with an adoptive family of your choice. We have adoptive families who are ready and willing to care of a baby immediately. We will guide you through the process of selecting a family and deciding how much contact you would like to have with your baby and the adoptive family.

When working with us on an adoption plan, we can provide financial support to assist with your living expenses. We can also provide the medical and counseling support you need surrounding this experience and decision.

How We’re Different

Not every adoption agency will fit with the values of every birth parent, and that’s alright. At Boys & Girls Aid:

  • We welcome everyone- the LGBTQIA+ community, undocumented immigrants, people of any faith (or of no faith)

  • We’re not affiliated with any religion

  • We value the safety of our birth parents and won’t involve the police in non-emergency situations

  • We provide all-options counseling

  • We provide open adoptions

  • We value relationships and our services extend beyond the date of adoption

We are not affiliated with any religion. We fully support a woman’s right to choose but are also welcoming to parents for whom abortion is not an option. We were Oregon’s first agency to facilitate adoptions with LGBTQIA+ couples and individuals, and proudly assist birth parents and prospective adoptive individuals and couples who identify as LGBTQIA+.
